Hi all!

I use VSK5 for 6weeks without any problem but suddenly it started to freeze after I click play button. (though did not modify anything)

The normal startup picture comes up with "please wait..." coursor moves but nothing happens for minutes. than i usually stop program after ctrlaltdel with task manager. "vsk5.exe stopped working...."

I checked related topics and tried already the followings without succes:
1, Firewall setup: VSK5 excluded
2, Panda antivirus 2009pro disabled
3, video driver updated
4, window mode tried: no error message
5, graphics details set to lowest
6, wifi changed to cable

Could you please advise if you have any other idea.
I enclosed my system details from dxdiag.

just one more comment:
my cooler fan is permanently at top high speed for a time now (very noisy).
Could the problem be in connection with overheating or any hardware issue with cpu, gpu, video card?

Thank you for your help.

Have you modified any file inside the game folders?

Have you imported any map, replay or boat model?

If yes, then remove them if possible.
If no, then consider re-instsalling the game.

Does the same PC run other graphics-heavy programmes without problems. (like Oblivion or Flight Sim X). Just to be sure the Graphics card is working ok?

The easiest way to diagnose a heat problem is to take the side off the computer case and have a large fan blowing air over the motherboard, CPU and video card. If the crashes go away you know it is a heat problem.

You may also want to run a memory test to see if you have some RAM that is going bad.

no ventillator but i already tried it outdoor in 2 degrees
Do not know if it was efficient enough but same issue

Iam not a pc pro so I just checked performance information and tools in windows. no problem was reported though ram usage is around 50% even if i do not run any program.
Is it normal? Could it be a problem if I have 4Gb?

thanks
any other idea?

4Gb is plenty. I have 3Gb and my system (Vista 64) uses 1.3 Gb.

hi again,

2 days ago I put the program to a new laptop and it was working fine without any problem...untill now

Suddenly it started to produce the same problem:
freeze at start. please wait...
Exactly the same issue than with the other laptop.
Did not modify or change anything neither in the game, nor in windows.
5 minutes ago it was ok. now not even start.

Any idea?
enclosed is the new laptop dxdiag.

Maybe this is an antivirus/firewall (not the Firewall of Windows) or an antispyware software.
When you run Virtual Skipper and when there is an Internet access, the game tries to connect to the Virtual Skipper master server.
You cannot access to Virtual Skipper if the game is blocked during this procedure.

You must configure your antivirus/firewall/antispyware to allow Virtual Skipper to access to Internet, or your must disable your antivirus/firewall/antispyware before running the game.

It seems that there is a compatibility issue between F-Secure antivirus/firewall and Virtual Skipper.
Sometimes, it is necessary to disable F-Secure before running Virtual Skipper.
