Introducing...

The VSK-AUS Modelling team have re-created an up-to-date version of our previously released International Foiler Moth. Features and improvements include:

  • reduced polygons in the 3D model - this has drastically improved the frame rate lag issue experienced in the previous model
  • current hull - the 3D has been created off publicly available photographs of the popular production design "Mach 2"
  • current sails - our master skinners have created a separate template of the various sail patterns used by popular sailmakers such as Hyde, Raptor and North
  • standard template also offers choice of round top, square top or wing sail
  • increased realism in boat behaviour (height drop as boat slows in tacks and gybes) and revalued boat speed polars
  • addition of a wind arrow through an invisible jib - please read the release notes!!
  • wakes completely reworked with additional wake added.
  • Moving tiller extension! (a VSK first!!)

A big shout out to all of the testers but particularly we need to mention the efforts of the key team members...
Limit - our Naval Architect-in-training and responsible for creating the 3D model
Halcyon - conversion into 3DS
Rich-OOT1960 - our XML Legend
Guane and Bustin' Loose - who created and refined the templates, including researching the sailmaker's various sail shapes, and also created the skins based off competitors in the 2011 Worlds for all to enjoy.

We have assembled four different installers at varying sizes to cater for those who may have bandwidth restrictions.

There were 5 entries for week 2 of the competition, and again the standard is very high. There's some ground breaking stuff in there, with an underground course, and a course in part of the Malmo map I doubt has ever been raced in before. There's also some really interesting views of some of the maps which look very different zoomed in sailign a moth.

Entries for week 3 are now open - so don't be shy, get your entry in.

Thankyou to all of the course builders who entered over the 4 weeks of the competition. The quality of the courses is superb, and they are great fun to sail.

I have created an installer which is available in the VSK-AUS.com downloads section here. (You need to be at least registered with the site)

It contains all 16 courses entered and course maps of each.
