I suspect your ISP is the problem with the download then. A 3g connection isn't all that fast for such a big download and there is a good chance your ISP starts throttling the connection after awhile. I would suggest taking your iPad to someone that has a wired connection (you mention your daughter has cable) or a free wifi hotspot (library etc) if you are going to download the full game.

You CAN unlock the free version and get the (almost) full version, but there are some differences when it comes to the single player game. I don't know if that is important to you, but I always recommend that people download the full version rather than unlocking the free version.

Are you trying to download Sail Simulator 5 or Virtual Skipper 5.

AquaBat (they all confuse me... names etc.. sail sim, and virtual sailor and virtual skipper.. All very confusing (which might be hurting sales).

Over the past week, I think I have it sorted out.

Sail Sim (very good - small boats, I bought it no DVD - love it)
Virtual sailor (not ready for prim time, nor is their new vehnical sim)
might be fun as a game... but not a "sim".

Virtural skipper (this one) I could not download (I download many 1+ gig files, so really not my 3G - my daughter with cable couldn't either).
LUCKILY - CanKnot uploaded the demo to my ftp server and I could download it from there at my daughters.

ANYWAY - copied it to SD card - didn't expect it to be as good as sail sim, so wasn't in a hurry. Today I installed it about noon. And well - just took a break. (almost 5 hours later) its AWESOME. Best? hmmm different.

I'm glad I bought sail sim 5 - but this has a different feel and I must buy this too!

Sail Sim vs VSkipper.

Graphics? (pretty equal) some things better on one and the other. If anything, maybe VS a hair better.

VSKIPPER wins hands down with content. "tutorial" and learning some basic rules. I spent a hour or two doing all the tutorials. LOTS of fun in those.

Stability? (Vskipper has crashed (froze) on me... 2-3 times ofter 4.5 hours use. (dunno why). Sail sim never cashed (yet).

Fun factor? they're different. Sail sim is more like piloting your own small boat. I like the Hobies (but then I own 3 Hobies here at home).
HOWEVER - I didn't think I'd like it as much, but I do - the "skipper" end of it is really neat. I like the HUGE SLOW progress, I think there is more time for anticipation and excitement. You have more time to think and make moves more like chess vs checkers.

Dunno which I like better "yet" I think one needs both. I've yet to race a real race yet online on VS due to not being that good on it yet and only using arcade mode so far. (will I trim sails in sim mode?)

FORUM - SURELY you guys blow away the sail sim forum. (not one posts there or replies its' like a ghost town). There thats a lot for asking questions and gaining help.

It is a blast.

NOW - where to get the commercial version I don't want another nightmware download situation.

anyway - it's been ordered and the more time I spend with this the more I find it superior to sail simulator. And more fun.

I love learning - started playing with solo races today and breaking and learning rules. "STARTS" etc. REALLY fun. Played with a couple skins of other boats - just renamed them to the USA.zip boat skin to see them.

(worked) as I didn't see a way to pick custom skin boat any other way.

SOME skins didn't load right? it wasn't clear what version or boat they were for. So maybe I applied them to the wrong model?
Others worked fine.

I'll try and make my own some time soon, now that I can load the .dds files in pshop.

AGain thanks for the help! - I'll move to "NEW" topics outside of the technical help area now! = )
