I've set up routers and firewalls for hosting several times in the past. I've even written articles about how to do it.

Last year I shifted house and I have a new ISP and a new router. I've done all of the things I know you need to do, both on the Router and on both the router's firewall and windows firewall on my laptop.

But I can't get Port Checker to say my ports are open.

I want to host, and we need people who can host in the NZ/Australia/Japan evening time window.

Can someone who fancies themself as a guru at this sort of thing contact me and let me know if they think they can help me get it sorted out?

Cheers,
Bardy.

It may sound funny, but I thought I had the same problem (followed all directions to the letter), could not get the port to open...

until I realized that in order for portchecker to see my port open, the game has to be actually open...

Did you try to host a game and it didn't work, or did you just try to verify you setup with the port checker?

Regards

Thanks Alx. When I try it with the game open Port checker says:

"Could not test port 2350 because some other application has the port locked. Please close any application that may be using this port and try again."

When I have done this multiple times in the past Port Checker (with the game closed) has always come up green and said the port(s) is/are open.

Raskil, no I haven't tried hosting yet. But I will do a test.

Can you post a screenshot of how you set up the port forwarding in you router?

Hi Brandon, Alex - all readers,

I'll try to explain how it works on my router & pc.

1- I do create a "game/application" I call VSK5 Hosting for which I allow 2350 & 3450 ports forwarding with protocol TCP & UDP.

2- Then I assign this VSK5 Hosting "game/application" specifically to my PC (ED-3V)

3- I also make sure to assign a static IP Address to my PC.

4- I do then check @ http://www.canyouseeme.org/ that ports 2350 & 3450 are truly opened or not.

To make sure that everything works correctly, I create a public server (from my Pc ED-3V), and I use my wife's laptop (on which I have a free version of the game) to verify that the server is joinable.

Cheers,
ED
